Today I found this folded-over, half piece of paper in my front yard:

Other news about my day: Samuel did very well with his dot marker art. He said “whoo, whoo,” when we were reading about an owl.

I’d say this is the second best “found” note I have come across. (Years ago, I found a poem and a weeping rose drawn in heavy pencil on the back of a prison visitor request form.) I do not know which child in this neighborhood, if any, is named Samuel. Remember when the progress of our days was measured in such small milestones?
Still, that seems like an awfully long time for a nap.
I wonder if “Lizards” is the name of his group at school, or if we are dealing with a lizard that is capable of imitating an owl’s call. The second possibility would at least explain the napping.
Lizards and owls would seem to be mortal enemies, thus complicating the picture. Perhaps Samuel’s last name is McGillicuddy.
It inspires the hell out of me!
Yesterday, I ate
Breakfast – at 1pm, I had a messy breakfast pizza; ate half to show restraint; ate rest in car at 3pm to complete experience.
Otherwise there were some snacks.
I can’t do this anymore.
how can i possibly have missed this post? in my own blog?!? so sad. it’s such a great post. i wish i could see the prison note.
